IT’S been 10 years since they hit the limelight with their very first hit single Sound Of The Underground.
But Girls Aloud are still as popular as ever, as they showed today while celebrating their milestone anniversary.
A very toned Kimberley Walsh led the way as she joined bandmates Cheryl Cole, Nicola Roberts, Sarah Harding and Nadine Coyle to announce plans for a new single, new album and UK tour - news which is sure to delight their millions of fans.
Cheryl looked stunning in a pair of black leather trousers, with a black vest top and blue jacket, but had some competition in the style stakes from Kimberley Walsh. Kimberley, who has been working hard training for Strictly Come Dancing, showed off the results of the gruelling daily workouts as she showed off her slim figure in a cropped long-sleeved top and a matching pencil skirt. Nicola opted for typically eccentric style in a feathered skirt and printed black jumper, with her hair piled on top of her head in a high bun, while Sarah wore a pair of patterned leggings with a black mesh top with metallic embellishments. Nadine, who has been living in Los Angeles for the past few years, completed the group, displaying her slender legs in a mini dress and black leather jacket with patterned sleeves.
At the press conference, held at London’s Corinthia Hotel and hosted by Radio 1 DJ Nick Grimshaw, the five-piece revealed that their new single, entitled Something New, will be released by Polydor Records, on 18th November, and will perform the track for the first time on Children In Need on 16th November. The girls revealed at the press conference on Friday that they recorded the track in April and May, all working hard to lay down their parts wherever they were in the world.
Cheryl said of the reunion: ‘It’s incredible that we are getting to share a decade in music. If you had of asked us 10 years ago, we never would have dreamed we would be here 10 years on. We still are achieving the whole time.’
