Droid Bionic ICS update now available to everyone

Droid Bionic ICS update now available to everyoneIt’s been a long time coming, but the Droid Bionic Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) update is now available to all owners. Unlike many other manufacturers, Motorola built in the ability to its phones to pull the update from its servers directly, rather than having to wait until it’s pushed to you. If you are a Bionic owner who would rather get your helping of ICS sooner rather than later, just head to “Settings”, select “About phone” and then choose “System updates”. Viola, you should be downloading the 368 MB file for installation in no time (although you may want to be on Wi-Fi or have a solid LTE connection to speed things up).

We saw the official soak test for the update earlier in the month, and it was just a couple of days ago that Verizon updated their official pages claiming a start date of October 19th. It doesn’t seem that they quite made that target, but now all should be well in Droid Bionic-land. For those who missed it last time below is the official summary of what is new, although you could also check out our Ice Cream Sandwich review if you are on a slow connection and need something to read while you download the update.
