Asus VivoTab RT hands-on

Not wasting a moment, Asus is already stirring things up over on AT&T’s lineup, as they recently announced that a Windows RT tablet from them will be available in the near future – giving hardened PC users something worth salivating over. Aiming to appease a wide-array of consumers, the Asus VivoTab RT tablet is gunning to be the all-in-one device that’ll be ideal for gaming, multimedia, and productivity.

Interestingly enough, its design instantly reminds us of the Asus Transformer Prime, which is arguably Asus’ finest tablet achievement thus far. Then again, taking into account that it was such a popular hit over in the Android world, it doesn’t necessarily surprise us that they decided to adopt the design into the VivoTab RT. Internally, it’s packing all the modern hardwareto impress us in the tablet realm – like its 10.1 Super IPS display, quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor, 4G LTE connectivity, and 32GB of internal storage.

And if that’s not enough for you, it’s mentioned that a keyboard dock will be available as well – giving it yet more functionality. Seeing that the keyboard dock complemented Asus’ Android-based tablets, it makes perfect sense to carry it over here as well.

Initial standouts with the Asus VivoTab RT

1. Sturdy, svelte, and evenly weighted

We have to say, the design of the Asus VivoTab RT might not be original and all, especially when it’s almost exactly like the Transformer Prime, but nevertheless, it’s a pretty snazzy looking thing for a Windows RT tablet. Interestingly, there’s a textured plastic strip that’s occupying the top portion of its rear. Still you can’t go wrong with its sturdy construction, skinny frame, and evenly distributed weight.

2. Added functionality with an optional keyboard dock

Not everyone is going to be gung-ho about the all-touch nature of the tablet, so knowing that, it’s nice to see that Asus will be making available an optional keyboard dock for the VivoTab RT. In addition to having the convenience of having a physical keyboard, it’s also mentioned to offer extended battery life as well – since the keyboard dock will be carrying its own internal battery as well.

3. Sharp looking 10.1” display

Although it’s not the same display that’s used by the Asus Transformer Pad Infinity, we’re still attracted to the VivoTab’s 10.1-inch Super IPS display with ASUS TruVivd technology. Not only does its display shine brilliantly, but it retains its clarity and sharpness at all angles.
